DALTAE Training Programme

Derived from an age-old Gaelic word meaning ‘pupil’, the DALTAE Training Programme offers individuals the opportunity to learn alongside the team at Joseph Walsh Studio.

Joseph Walsh Studio is now seeking Expressions of Interest for its Workshop Daltae Training Programme. If you wish to be considered for a place on this programme, please submit a letter outlining your interest, along with a current CV, portfolio and/or any additional material to support your application to careers@josephwalshstudio.com. Please include ‘Daltae’ in the subject line.

Workshop Training Programme

Under the direction and guidance of the Workshop Leader and senior members of the Workshop team, Daltae candidates will complete an intensive 3-year programme that includes both one-to-one instruction as well as practical workshop time. In progressive steps, working as full-time paid apprentices, candidates will complete a programme that begins with the founding principles of making and basic woodworking skills, before moving on to more advanced methods and an understanding of the complex and highly developed techniques that are unique to Joseph Walsh Studio.

Design Studio Training Programme

Under the direction and guidance of the Senior Design Developer, a Daltae candidate will complete an intensive three-year programme that includes both one-to-one instruction in addition to working alongside the Joseph Walsh Design Studio team. In progressive steps, working as full-time paid apprentice, the candidate will complete a programme that includes material properties and making techniques, design communication, technical strategy and project development, research and process development, as well as procedures and practices that are unique to Joseph Walsh Studio.
