Joseph Walsh Studio

Joseph Walsh Studio encompasses a design studio, workshop, gallery and archive, set around an 18th-century farmhouse in the countryside of County Cork on the south coast of Ireland. Art, craft, design and technical innovation merge in the exquisite and expressive pieces that the studio crafts, opening up new possibilities in material and form.

The Workshop

The Workshop is one of the leading studio workshops in Europe, attracting the best talent from around the world, in various disciplines including the core areas of wood working and stone carving, with many of the makers coming from such celebrated institutions as the Shinrin Takumi Juku in Japan, Les Compagnons du Devoir in France and Letterfrack furniture college in Ireland. Since the early years of the studio, the influential designer and educationalist Robert Ingham has played an important role in its development, contributing significantly to the dynamic ethos of training, mastery and collaboration.

Gallery & Archive

The Gallery and Archive engages with the realisation and representation of Joseph Walsh’s designs, assisting private clients, galleries, institutions, museums and the media. The dedicated team supports clients through the process of commissioning a bespoke piece, while the evolving displays of the gallery space and the resource of the archive offer a unique opportunity to explore Joseph Walsh’s work of the last twenty years.

The Gallery develops an annual programme of events, exhibitions and attends fairs, alongside running an ambitious cultural programme.
