Joseph Walsh Studio is once again set to welcome renowned designers, curators and makers from around the globe to the annual Making In gathering on Saturday, September 14th. Now in its 3rd year, the seminar is proving to be an-ever growing, important event in the creative industry as is evident from the impressive panel of speakers announced in the Makgin In/19 programme which launched on Friday. Featuring some of the most profound and exciting voices in international design including Charles Renfro from Diller Scofido & Renfro (work includes the High Line and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts redevelopment, NYC), Sheila Lowe, (President of the LOEWE Foundation) and Christian Larson, (Associate Curator of Modern Decorative Arts and Design at the Metropolitan Museum of Art), the seminar puts Joseph Walsh Studio, and Ireland, at the centre of a valuable creative dialogue.
Speaking about the event this year which focuses on the theme Public, Glenn Adamson, curator, writer and moderator of Making In/18-19 said: “Making In aims to forge connections with the general public, by providing them with accessible narratives into the creative process. We will hear thoughts on this topic from a wide range of speakers, all of whom are not only great makers but great communicators about making.”
In bringing this conversation to Ireland, Joseph Walsh hopes to share international perspectives and to stimulate and challenge the culture of making in Ireland, “In a world where people increasing seek connections to the objects they surround themselves with, and where there is access to global design and new technologies this seminar seeks to examine our past and debate our future as we mark our place in time with the objects we create and live with.”
For the audience of design enthusiasts, professionals, academics and students, it is a unique opportunity to hear internationally renowned creative voices discuss their work and ideas.
